Tourists flow in along popular trekking and climbing routes such as the Annapurna Circuit , Langtang Valley , and Everest Base Camp , enabling locals to earn handsomely. When tourists need accommodation, meals, guides and porters can provide a guaranteed income for many members of the community.   That income can help alleviate poverty, stem outmigration and encourage local businesses just as various family members open up small lodges, restaurants or other shops to cater to visitors. The area of Nepal is 147181 square km. with a length of 885 km. from east to west and a mean width of 193 km, which may vary from 145 to 243 km. North to South with an irregular rectangular shape. High mountains cover 83% of the country's total land area, and undulating ecotourism has been a global phenomenon and has not been restricted to any particular region of the world. The Quest for Sustainable Tourism in Nepal: Navigating Challenges and Opportunities. Abstract Nepal is famous for its mountainous terrain, rich culture and various kinds of wild animals. This makes it a popular destination for tourists from around the world. However, managing sustainable tourism development poses several challenges. This article researches the current state of sustainable tourism in Nepal and examines the constraints faced and opportunities. A review of existing literature, stakeholder interviews, and field survey research identifies key factors driving sustainable tourism and barriers that must be overcome. The findings suggest that as awareness and support for sustainable practices grow, challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, limited local capacity and environmental degradation still exist.
